To Legislative Directors,
Just to update you, I, along with Legislative Director Bing Markee and Legislative Committee Chair Pete Paterson, have met with the Governor’s office, the Senate Majority Leader and the Speaker regarding our immediate goal of incorporating some Tier relief into the NYS Budget. We met again on Monday, March 4, with the Senate Majority Leader, and additional meetings with the Governor’s office and the Speaker are being arranged.
It is our belief that there will be some relief included in the finalized budget, but any details with respect to that are still in the earlier stages of negotiation.
Everyone realizes that, because of the huge fiscal implications, monumental change will be not be accomplished, but incremental adjustments that benefit our members will be on the table. Further, the consensus among all the players is that anything that does get done must impact all, not just certain groups.

We have scheduled a legislative meeting at the Fort Orange Club in Albany on Wednesday April 3rd 2024 at 12pm. Lunch will be provided.
